What is Winding Efficiency in Weaving?
The percentage expression of the ratio of the actual production to the calculated production is termed as winding efficiency. It should be noted here that, actual production is lower than calculated production.
Winding efficiency calculation in weaving |
Winding Efficiency Calculation Method Followed in Textile Weaving Industry:
Winding efficiency can be calculated by using the below formula:
Winding Efficiency= {(Actual production/ Calculated production) ×100}
Problem-01:
What will be the winding efficiency, if a super speed cone winder runs 16 hours to wind 2388 lbs of 20s cotton on 40 drums, where the calculated production of winding is 1298 yds per minute?
Solution:
Here,
Amount of yarns in pounds (lb) = 2388 lbs,
Yarn count=20s,
Number of drums=40,
Calculated rate of winding in minutes= 1298 yds= (1298/840) hank= 1.55 hank,
Calculated rate of winding in hour (Calculated production) = 1.55 hank×60=93 hank
Required time= 16 hours,
Winding efficiency=?
Now,
Actual production in hanks
Amount of yarns in pounds × yarn count
=…………………………………………………
Time required × Number of drums
2388×20
=………………
16×40
= 74.63 hank
Finally,
Winding Efficiency= {(Actual production/ Calculated production) ×100}
= {(74.63/93) ×100}
=80%
So, winding efficiency for this calculation is 80%.
Problem-02:
Calculate the winding efficiency of a modern high speed cone winding machine if its actual production per 8 hours is found to be 384 hanks. The rate of winding (calculated) is 800 yds per minute.
Solution:
Here,
Calculated production in minute= 800yds,
Time= 8 hours,
Winding efficiency=?
So,
Winding efficiency= {(Actual production/Calculated production) × 100}………….. (1)
Now,
Calculated production in 8 hours= (800×60×8) yds=384000yds,
Actual production in 8 hours= (384×840) yds= 322560 yds,
Now, from equation (1), we get,
Winding efficiency= {(322560/384000) × 100}
= 84%
So, winding efficiency for this calculation is 84%.
Problem-03:
Production of pirn winding machine per shift per spindle is 10 pounds for 30s cotton count. If the machine runs at 600 yds per minute then calculate winding efficiency.
Solution:
Here,
Calculated production per minute= 600 yds,
Time= 1 shift= 8 hours,
Yarn count= 30s,
Winding efficiency=?
So,
Winding efficiency= {(Actual production/Calculated production) × 100}………….. (1)
Now,
Calculated production in per spindle per shift= (600×60×8) yds=288000yds,
Actual production in 8 hours= (10×840×yarn count) yds=(10×840×30) yds= 252000 yds,
Now, from equation (1), we get,
Winding efficiency= {(252000/288000) × 100}
= 88%
So, winding efficiency for this calculation stands at 88%.
