How to Calculate Warp and Weft Weight in Textile Industry?

Warp Weight Calculation Method in Textile Weaving:

In the case of the weaving process, warp and weft yarn weight calculation is too much important. This article has presented an easy method of warp yarn weight calculation. In another article, I will try to present the other method of weft yarn weight calculation which will be very effective in your textile job profession.

Warp Yarn Weight Calculation Method in Textile Weaving:
The below formula has to follow to calculate warp weight in the textile industry.

Weight of warp yarn in pounds,

Length of warp in yds ×Number of ends
= …………………………………………………………………………………
                        840× Count
The below examples will clear all the confusion related to warp weight calculation.

Problem-01:
Calculate the weight of warp on a set of back beams which contains 2940 ends. The length of warp on each beam being 16000 yds and a count of 50s.

Solution:
Here,
Length of warp in yds= 16000,
Total number of ends= 2940,
Yarn count= 50s,
Weight of warp yarn in pounds=?

Now,
Weight of warp yarn in pounds,
Length of warp in yds ×Number of ends
= ……………………………………………………………………………..………

                      840× Count

     16000×2940
= ……………………….……

        840×50

= 1120 pounds.

So, warp yarn weight for this calculation stands at 1120 pounds.

Problem-02:
A super-speed beam warper with a warping speed of 880 yds per minute is preparing a standard warp of 525 ends. If the yarn count is in the 30s and efficiency is 84% then calculate the weight of warp yarn.

Solution:
Here,
No. of ends=525,
Calculated production=880yds,
Yarn count=30s,
Efficiency=84%=0.84,
Warp yarn weight=?

So,

Total weight of warp yarn in the pound,

The total length of warp in yds ×No. of ends
= ………………………………………………………………………………          … (1)
                   840× Yarn count

Again,

The total length of warp in yds per hour,

= Calculated production×efficieny×60
=880×0.84×60
=44352 yds

Now,
From equation (1), we get,

Total weight of warp yarn in the pound,

    44352×525
= ……………………………

     840×30

= 924 pounds

So, the weight of the warp for this calculation is 924 pounds.
